What do they do?

Katie and Cookie visit most of the medical wards at Medway Hospital from the children to the elderly. By request, they now visit most of the waiting areas including Accident and Emergency. In addition, they also visit the Intensive Care Unitif there are patients whom the staff believe will benefit from a visit. In Intensive Care, Cookie will often lay on the bed to be stroked and recently a patient was able to feed her a small tub of ice cream while she was laying there and it made both of them very happy. They are now well know at the hospital and make a difference to many of the patients, staffs and visitors that they meet. Cookie will do easy tricks to entertain patients. Photos are always offered to patients if they want one, and packs with colouring sheets and wordsearches will also be given to the children. Both Katie and Cookie have attended hospital courses and they have received the Hospital Volunteer of the Year award in 2014.
